Reasonable Accommodation
A change to a rule, policy, or service that allows a person with a disability to use and enjoy their housing equally. Allowing a service animal in a no-pets property is the most common example. The accommodation must be related to the disability and cannot impose an undue financial burden on the landlord. You cannot charge a pet deposit for a service animal. Denying a reasonable accommodation is a fair housing violation.
