Offboarding

The process of transitioning a property out of management. Includes transferring tenant deposits, providing lease documents, handing over keys, settling the final owner statement, and notifying tenants and vendors of the management change. Most management agreements require 30-60 days notice. A clean offboarding protects the owner during the transition. Watch for PMs who drag their feet or withhold documents.
