The total number of rental units in a portfolio. A duplex counts as two doors. A single-family home is one door. Property management companies often describe their scale by door count. A PM managing 500 doors has 500 units across all their managed properties. In the PM industry, more doors means more revenue but also more complexity. The ratio of doors per employee reveals operational efficiency.
