Power Of Attorney

A legal document that authorizes someone to act on your behalf. Some property management agreements include limited power of attorney for the PM to sign leases, file evictions, or handle insurance claims. This can be convenient for out-of-state owners but must be narrowly scoped. A broad POA gives the PM more authority than most owners intend. Know exactly what you are authorizing.
